Our mission is simple: to ensure that everyone, regardless of circumstance, has access to the hope, love, grace, and salvation found in the Word of God. By means of God's enabling with our dedicated volunteer rider, we aim to distribute 5000+ Bibles to those living in the hard-to-reach areas of southwestern Africa. Poverty is a reality!
Monthly Gifters, are the ones who will move this project forward. By your monthly giving and enthusiasm to inspire others to give, Bibles will reach those who so desperately want and need them.
"When you help the poor you are lending to the Lord—and he pays wonderful interest on your loan!" Proverbs 19:17Although the poor can not repay you, God says He will. Anything you give to the poor is not a loss, it is actually a loan to the Lord. Remember, you are laying up your treasure in heaven!
"Since this update, we would like to extend a most heartfelt thank you to the ministry that came alongside us and contributed $1600 to cover the cost of the bike service, maintenance, spares, etc." We praise God, for His blessings through His people.

People Group Being Served
The main grouping of people who will receive Bibles are the Nama communities. They speak Afrikaans and Nama Damara. The Nama (Namaqua) people, an indigenous group from southern Africa, have a history marked by resilience and struggle, particularly against colonization and apartheid. They are spread across present-day Namibia, South Africa and Botswana. The Nama were mainly pastoralists with a long and rich cultural heritage. However, during the 19th and 20th centuries, they faced harsh exploitation under German colonial rule, particularly during the Herero and Namaqua genocide of 1904-1908, where thousands of Nama were killed or displaced. In the years that followed and till today they continue to face marginalization and poverty, compounded by discrimatory policies. Despite these challenges, the Nama people have maintained their cultural identity, interwoven with Christian beliefs that was brought to them by Rhenish and English missionaries.Alcoholism and drug addiction has been on the rise in the Nama communities for many years, especially among the youth. Giving them access to the Word will have the impact to make a difference. Please support and partner with us in prayer!
Due to the logistical challenges that have to be met and overcome, a motorbike remains the most cost effective way to reach these remote villages. It took one young man to see the need and be inspired to want to make a difference in the lives of the Nama people!
To give a Bible to someone who has never owned one is a special privilege, as it offers them a chance of knowing the life-changing power of God's word through His Son Jesus Christ. It opens the door to experiencing faith and a closer walk with Him. It provides access to the God of all comfort through His Word, when life seems bleak and without hope. Your act of generosity goes beyond simply giving a book—it’s an opportunity to touch lives with the message of faith, hope, love, and salvation that can transform hearts and bring lasting peace to their souls. Will you join us in making this happen for the Nama people?
BIBLES HAVE A PROFOUND IMPACT SPIRITUALLY AND SOCIALLY IN COMMUNITIES, IN THE FOLLOWING WAYS:Spiritual Growth - By access to Bibles, individuals develop and deepen their faith, gain spiritual insights, and find comfort and guidance in times of need.Community Building - Through Bible studies people are brought together, thereby fostering a sense of unity and shared purpose.Moral and Ethical Guidance - The teachings of the Bible can help instill values such as compassion, kindness, integrity and loyalty to God which can positively influence community behavior and relationships.Hope and Encouragement - For those facing difficult circumstances, the Bible can offer hope, encouragement, and a sense of purpose, helping them navigate life's challenges.Literacy - Bibles are often used for teaching reading and writing skills, thereby improving literacy rates in a community
We will be coordinating with local elders to promote weekly Bibles studies within the communities. This is to encourage growth in the knowledge of the Word, for personal spiritual nourishment, for deeper connection with God on an individual level and creating a more definite sense of unity and fellowship.

The Back Story

Journey with Bibles began as a project at the end of September 2024, by way of a conversation that Bibles are desperately needed and sought after in the Nama communities. And in the local languages of Afrikaans, Namagowab (NT only) and at times English. As we prayed and looked for a solution, we came to the realisation that to be able to buy Bibles to give away we would need to raise the funds from the North American side. Means are scarce among the Nama, and in southwestern Africa as a whole.Kendall who is our Bible Biker had the idea to distribute by bike, and paid for one third of the bike by selling his VW Golf Chico. Read about Kendall in the section below. And that is how Journey with Bibles got started (It was initially called 1 Year Many Bibles) Raising funds to cover the cost of a motorbike became our first priority, and we achieved the fundraising goal by by the beginning of November. We have listed the businesses who gave generously toward the project. At the same time we were looking for a volunteer project coordinating team or or person in South Africa to assist Kendall. We found many people who seemed very keen to be involved in logistically planning but when it came to the time to actually move forward there was always something that prevented their involvement. By early February God revealed His person, the ideal person whose heart would truly be in the work. A true collaborator. But now what we are in need of most is monthly financial collaborators. We call them Monthly Gifters, that means Christians who see the urgency of getting Bibles into these peoples hands. Time is short, people need to get personally acquainted with their God and their Saviour.Consistent Monthly Gifts turn a possibility into a reality by enabling Kendall's Bible rides. We need your generosity to meet the necessary budgetary requirements.Since the logistical planning for Journey with Bibles swung into full action, word has gotten around and a request for Bibles has come in from a different region. Over the next few months we will include it in the fundraiser, as soon as we have confirmed a second local volunteer and we are able to provide more specifics on that. There is a thirst for truth in this uncertain world, truths that can only be found in God's Word. Time is short, Jesus is soon to return, let us not hold back in our duty to love and serve. We invite you to make a 1 year monthly commitment to put a Bibles into underprivileged households. Or a give a once-off love gift.Praise God all glory to Him, this project will move forward as He makes it possible through your gifts! The Journey with Bibles project and fundraising initiative is being managed by and in collaboration with Your Health your Life Ministries in North America.
A volunteers vision...
Our volunteer has requested his information be kept private, for safety reasons, so for now we refer to him as Kendall B.After going through a life threatening experience two years ago, Kendall's world view changed and he became more acutely aware of his Christian roots, and the need for being more purposeful. While visiting and spending time with missionary friends in northwestern South Africa, he noticed that Bibles were a scarcity, and very much sought after in the region. The people in these remote Nama villages are not able to buy their own, as most live below the poverty line. Kendall made the decision to raise funds for a motorbike, part of which came from selling his small car. He then would volunteer to ride and distribute Bibles to these marginalized overlooked communities. The distances between the communities range from 80 to 200 kilometers.Kendall raised one third of the funds needed for the motorbike, we assisted in raising the rest, by means of a pop-up thrift and gift store.Giving up one year of his life to distribute Bibles, makes his choice commendable in this selfish 'me first' world, with the project being very much a faith journey for Kendall too. Praise God, for this a young man, let us keep him in prayer.Together and by God's grace, we can make happen! Our dedicated Monthly Gifters will receive monthly updates to their inbox.Short video clips will be posted to the YouTube Channel from time to time and when possible. There is much cellular signal disruption at present in the region making it difficult to upload footage regularly.
We would like to express our gratitude to the owners of the historic Mesklip Farm for providing a base in the
Northern Cape from which Kendall B with Lorraine will do the larger portion of the Bible Distribution.
The Journey with Bibles project has a monthly fundraising budget to meet to ensure that carefully laid out plans can move forward smoothly. By God's grace we have significantly reduced the budget. After discussion with Kendall, the decision has been made to relocate him to the Springbok area. Assistance to cover the moving cost would be so greatly appreciated. Amount needed is $650.

"Charge those who are rich in this present age that they not be arrogant, nor have their hope set on the uncertainty of riches, but on the living God, who richly provides us with everything to enjoy; that they do good, that they be rich in good works, that they be ready to distribute, willing to share; laying up in store for themselves a good foundation against the time to come, that they may lay hold of eternal life." 1 Timothy 6:17-19
